Farewell and Retirement Benefit Presentation for Rev. A.K. Selvanayagam

Rev. A.K. Selvanayagam, who has served the Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India (JDCSI) with dedication for more than forty years, celebrated his 67th birthday and officially retired from active church ministry at the Diocesan Assembly held on 13 June 2026.

During this occasion, a pension scheme for clergy, which had not been in operation for many years, was reintroduced, and a certificate entitling Rev. A.K. Selvanayagam to a monthly pension was presented to him. In recognition of his long and dedicated service, he was also honored with a cheque from the Employee Benevolent Fund (EBF) on the same day.

The event, presided over by the Bishop, was attended by the Diocesan Secretary, Diocesan Treasurer, clergy, officers, and staff members.

Rev. A.K. Selvanayagam’s more than four decades of faithful ministry were fondly remembered, and appreciation was expressed for his invaluable contribution to the life and mission of the Church. He was further honored with a congratulatory address in recognition of his dedicated service.

The Jaffna Diocese gratefully remembers the faithful ministry of Rev. A.K. Selvanayagam, who labored diligently in the Lord’s vineyard, and prays that his retirement years may be richly blessed with God’s peace, grace, and abundant blessings.

தென்னிந்திய திருச்சபையின் யாழ் ஆதீனத்தில் கடந்த நாற்பது ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலாக அர்ப்பணிப்புடன் பணியாற்றிய அருட்பணி ஏ.கே. செல்வநாயகம் அவர்கள், 2026 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜூன் மாதம் 13 ஆம் திகதி நடைபெற்ற ஆதீனக் கேட்போர் கூட்டத்தில் தனது 67ஆவது பிறந்தநாளைக் கொண்டாடியதுடன், தனது திருச்சபை ஊழியப் பணியிலிருந்து ஓய்வு பெற்றார்.

இந்நிகழ்வில், பல ஆண்டுகளாக குருமார்களுக்காக நடைமுறையில் இல்லாதிருந்த ஓய்வூதியத் திட்டம் மீள ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டு, அருட்பணி ஏ.கே. செல்வநாயகம் அவர்களுக்கு மாதாந்திர ஓய்வூதியத்திற்கான சான்றிதழ் வழங்கப்பட்டது. மேலும், அவரது நீண்டகால அர்ப்பணிப்பான சேவையைப் பாராட்டும் வகையில் ஊழியர் நல நிதிக்கான காசோலையும் அதே நாளில் வழங்கி கௌரவிக்கப்பட்டது.

பேராயர் அவர்களின் தலைமையில் நடைபெற்ற இந்நிகழ்வில் ஆதீன செயலாளர், ஆதீன பொருளாளர், அருட்பணியாளர்கள், அலுவலர்கள் மற்றும் பணியாளர்கள் கலந்துகொண்டனர்.

Discussion Meeting for JDCSI Clergy and Treasurers

A special discussion meeting for the clergy and treasurers of the Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India (JDCSI) was recently held at the Diocesan Auditorium under the chairmanship of Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. V. Pathmathayalan.

During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on the fundamental values of Christian life, church discipline, dedication, accountability, and administrative effectiveness. The Bishop particularly emphasized that Christians are called not to a life of moral compromise, but to a life of holiness and purity.

He pointed out that although the world is changing rapidly, the Word of God never changes, and stressed the importance of believers remaining steadfast in godliness and integrity amidst various challenges and pressures.

Addressing the clergy and treasurers involved in church ministry and administration, the Bishop noted that they should serve as role models to others through their lives. He affirmed that Jesus Christ is the supreme example for the Christian community and that following His way of life is the true Christian calling.

Furthermore, the importance of acting responsibly in matters relating to church financial management, accounting responsibilities, ethical standards, and administrative structures was highlighted.

As the first six months of 2026 draw to a close, the Bishop called upon everyone to evaluate their contribution to the growth of the Diocese through self-examination and to continue serving with dedication in a ministry centered on the Lord.

He also spoke about the need for having high aspirations and a long-term vision for the future growth of the Church, emphasizing that the Church must carry forward its mission under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

திருச்சபை வாழ்க்கையிலும் நிர்வாகப் பொறுப்புகளிலும் ஈடுபட்டுள்ள குருமார்களும் பொருளாளர்களும் தங்களது வாழ்க்கையின் மூலம் மற்றவர்களுக்கு முன்மாதிரியாக இருக்க வேண்டும் எனக் குறிப்பிட்ட பேராயர், இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவே கிறிஸ்தவ சமூகத்தின் உயர்ந்த முன்மாதிரி என்றும், அவருடைய வாழ்க்கை முறையைப் பின்பற்றுவதே உண்மையான கிறிஸ்தவ அழைப்பு என்றும் தெரிவித்தார்.

Rev. P. Sudhakaran, the Pastor-in-Charge of Adappankulam Church, together with Evangelist Bro. D. Nesakumar, visited the home of a member of the Church of South India, Adappankulam Congregation.

During the visit, they inquired about the well-being of the family, shared fellowship with them, and offered prayers for God's blessings, guidance, and comfort. The visit provided spiritual encouragement to the family and strengthened their bond with the Church community.

Green Memorial Hospital Honours Three Retiring Staff Members

The Green Memorial Hospital community gathered to honour and bid farewell to three of its dedicated staff members who have faithfully served the institution with commitment, compassion, and integrity over many years.

The retirees are:

Mrs. Thevarasa Sarojinidevi, Nursing Staff (1969–2026)
Mrs. Thevamalar Michael, Clerk (1992–2026)
Mr. Sinnathambi Nagiah, Administrative Officer (2014–2025)

Through their long and devoted service, they have made significant contributions to the mission and growth of Green Memorial Hospital, serving countless patients and supporting the ministry of healing with dedication and sincerity. Their commitment, professionalism, and spirit of service have left a lasting impact on the hospital community.

A special farewell programme was organized by the management and staff of the hospital to express gratitude and appreciation for their invaluable service.
