ELDERS HOME
Subramaniam Kanagam Pleasant Cottage (Elders’ Home) was established by the Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India in loving memory of Kanagam, the beloved mother of Rt. Rev. Dr. S. Jebanesan.
The Home is dedicated to providing elderly people with love, dignity, care, and a peaceful environment where they are valued and respected as family. Inspired by Christian compassion, we continue our mission of serving elders with warmth, hope, and kindness.
“Honouring the elderly with love and care.”
GREEN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
In February 1848, Dr. Samuel Fisk Green relocated to Manipay, the hub of American Mission medical work, where he established the first dispensary and translated and wrote medical books in Tamil.
From 1873 to 1893, a medical missionary from America taught medical classes and managed the hospital. The hospital experienced disrepair due to the civil war in 2004 but has since been revived with charitable assistance from the Friends of Manipay Hospital trustees. Currently, the hospital operates under the guardianship of the Jaffna Diocese of CSI, incorporating the GMH Governing Council.
Vision Statement
"The Church of South India affirms that the purpose of the union is to fulfil the priestly prayer of Jesus Christ, the Lord of the Church, 'That they all may be one, and that the world may believe that You have sent Me.' The Church of South India seeks to become an effective instrument of God's mission so that there may be greater peace, closer fellowship, fuller life in the Church, and a renewed commitment to the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through word and deed."
MISSION OF THE J.D.C.S.I

Public worship is central to the Church’s participation in God’s mission. Through worship, believers receive the Gospel and are called to live it out in their daily lives. The Church of South India sees evangelism as a vital responsibility, bearing witness to Christ through love, service, and faithful living. Mission is carried out with respect, openness, and dialogue with people of other faiths, reflecting the love of Jesus without any spirit of superiority.

Mission is nurturing the people of God through worship, preaching, Christian education and pastoral care, thus building up Christian fellowship (Koinonia), deepening spirituality and empowering them to be fruitful instruments in mission. The Church of South India seeks to equip its people for mission through interpreting its faith that is relevant to the contemporary world. The Church pays special attention to children and new believers in Christian nurture.

Mission is service with dedication (Diakonia). As Christ served the people with love and compassion, the Church seeks to engage in the service of the people. The Church of South India believes that the service rendered through its medical and educational institutions, children's homes, rural development projects and other diaconal ministries are an essential part of the mission entrusted to it. The Church extends its service to the people irrespective of caste or creed but with a preferential option for the poor and the neglected in the society.
Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I joyfully extend my greetings on the launch of the Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India’s official website — www.jdcsi.lk. In today's digital age, effective communication is essential for our faith community. This website serves as a
dynamic platform where faith, service, and fellowship unite, connecting parishes, institutions, clergy, and laity locally and globally.
This initiative showcases our Diocese's rich heritage, ongoing ministries, and mission. We hope this website inspires, nourishes spiritually, and shares Christ's love and message.
Thank you to everyone who contributed their time and effort to make this vision a reality. May God bless
this endeavor abundantly for His glory.
Let us continue to walk together in faith, hope, and love.
Yours in Christ’s service,
+Rt. Rev. Dr. V. Pathmathayalan
