A colouring competition was recently held at the Adappankulam Preschool, which functions under the Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India.
The preschool children participated enthusiastically and showcased their creativity and artistic talents through their colourful drawings. Parents also took part in the event by encouraging and supporting their children throughout the competition.
The programme proved to be a meaningful and enjoyable activity, helping to develop the children's creativity, imagination, and self-confidence. The active involvement and cooperation of the parents greatly contributed to the success of the event and were highly appreciated.

Tamil Sinhala New Year Market Festival was successfully held at the Preschool of the Church of South India (CSI), Adappankulam.The event was organized as part of the preschool's New Year celebrations with the aim of promoting creativity, entrepreneurship, and community participation among the children. Students, parents, and teachers attended the festival and contributed to its success.A variety of food items, handmade crafts, and creative works prepared by the children and their families were displayed and offered for sale. The market festival provided an opportunity for the children to gain practical exposure to basic concepts of trade, teamwork, and financial responsibility in an enjoyable learning environment.Parents and visitors highly appreciated the efforts of the children and teachers, noting that such activities help develop confidence, social skills, and a spirit of cooperation among young learners.The festival concluded in a joyful atmosphere, making the Tamil Sinhala New Year celebration a memorable and meaningful event for all who participated.

A one-day special programme for Sunday School children was recently held at the Kalmedu Church under the Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India.
The event was conducted under the leadership of Evangelist Brother Sam Sivalingam, who is serving at the church. The programme was facilitated by Brother Sulakshan, Regional Coordinator of the Northern Province for the Sri Lanka Children’s Gospel Union, who actively guided the sessions.
Reverend S. Daniel Mohan, church worker from Vishwamadu Church, also participated in the event and contributed to its success.
The programme aimed at promoting the spiritual growth of children, strengthening their Christian faith, and developing biblical knowledge along with good moral values and character formation. Various activities including Bible studies, group sessions, games, and interactive learning exercises were conducted to engage the children in a meaningful and enjoyable way.
Children who participated showed great enthusiasm throughout the programme, and it was widely appreciated as a valuable opportunity for their spiritual and personal development.

தென்னிந்திய திருச்சபையின் யாழ் ஆதீனம் கல்மடு திருச்சபையில் ஓய்வுநாள் பாடசாலைப் பிள்ளைகளுக்கான ஒருநாள் சிறப்பு நிகழ்வு அண்மையில் நடைபெற்றது.
அங்கு பணியாற்றும் நற்செய்திப் பணியாளர் அருட்சகோதரர் சேம் சிவலிங்கம் அவர்களின் தலைமையில் நடைபெற்ற இந்நிகழ்வில், இலங்கை சிறுவர் நற்செய்தி ஐக்கிய நிறுவனத்தின் வடபகுதி ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் சகோதரர் சுலக்சன் அவர்கள் வளவாளராகக் கலந்து கொண்டு நிகழ்ச்சிகளை வழிநடத்தினார்.
மேலும், விஸ்வமடு திருச்சபை ஊழியர் அருட்பணி எஸ். டேனியல் போகன் அவர்களும் இந்நிகழ்வில் பங்கேற்று சிறப்பித்தார்.
இந்நிகழ்வின் மூலம் பிள்ளைகளின் ஆன்மீக வளர்ச்சி, கிறிஸ்தவ வாழ்வில் நிலைத்திருத்தல், திருமுறை அறிவு மற்றும் நல்ல பண்பாட்டு வளர்ச்சி ஆகியவற்றை மேம்படுத்தும் நோக்கில் பயிற்சிகள் வழங்கப்பட்டன. திருமறைப் படிப்புகள், குழு நடவடிக்கைகள், விளையாட்டுக்கள் மற்றும் பல்வேறு செயன்முறை நிகழ்வுகள் ஊடாக பிள்ளைகள் பயனுள்ள அறிவையும் அனுபவங்களையும் பெற்றுக்கொண்டனர்.

The Jaffna Diocese of Church of South India (CSI) organized a Combined Children’s Day Celebration in Kilinochchi, bringing together child development projects from Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts. The event was held at the Co-operative Hall with Bishop Dr. Veluppillai Pathmathayalan as Chief Guest. Mr. T. Mugunthan, Divisional Secretary of Karachchi, and Mr. Jeyandan, Grama Sevaka, clergy of the diocese were also present. Children performed cultural programs, and prizes were distributed. The event highlighted CSI’s ongoing commitment to child development in the region.
சிறுவர் அபிவிருத்தித் திட்டங்களின் ஒன்றிணைந்த சிறுவர் தின கொண்டாட்டம் இன்று கிளிநொச்சியில் நடைபெற்றது.

கூட்டுறவு மண்டபத்தில் இடம்பெற்ற குறித்த நிகழ்வில் பிரதம விருந்தினராக தென்னிந்திய திருச்சபை யாழ் ஆதீன பேராயர் அதி வண கலாநிதி வேலுப்பிள்ளை பத்மதயாளன் பிரதம விருந்தினராக கலந்து கொண்டார்.
கரைச்சி பிரதேச செயலாளர் த.முகுந்தன், கிளி நகர கிராம சேவையாளர் ஜயந்தன், திருச்சபை ஊழியர்கள், திட்ட முகாமையாளர்கள், பணியாளர்கள், பிள்ளைகள், பெற்றோர் என பெருமளவானோர் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.
சிறுவர்கள், விருந்தினர்கள் மாலை அணிவிக்கப்பட்டு மண்டபத்திற்கு அழைத்து வரப்பட்டதைத் தொடர்ந்து சிறுவர்களின் கலைநிகழ்வுகள் நடைபெற்றது.
தொடர்ந்து பரிசுகளும் வழங்கி வைக்கப்பட்டது.

In the heart of Mankulam, the New Life Center at St. Andrew’s Church ignited a wave of community action during Child Protection Week, blending advocacy with inspiration on August 30, 2025. Kicking off at 9:00 AM, the event—guided by Director Rev. P. Sudhakaran—launched with an energetic rally where kids proudly waved banners highlighting their rights and the need for vigilant protection.
Transitioning to the church’s open grounds, participants enjoyed a heartfelt welcome, worship session, lamp-lighting ceremony, and an upbeat dance performance that set a joyful tone.
Probation Officer Mr. S. Sivakaran from Mullaitivu District took the stage as chief guest, offering practical tips for parents on embedding child rights into everyday routines.
Complementing this, Mrs. Nirmala Jayasinghe of Mankulam Police Station delivered essential insights on navigating legal steps against child abuse, arming families with actionable knowledge.
The morning’s centerpiece, A captivating drama by New Life Center staff, vividly portraying parental duties in fostering safe, nurturing homes. Wrapping up with a communal lunch, the gathering strengthened bonds and renewed vows to safeguard the vulnerable.
Echoing this mission, theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer once remarked, “The test of the morality of a society is what it does for its children,” reminding us of our sacred duty.
As Scripture affirms in Matthew 19:14 (NRSV), “Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”
Through such initiatives, the Church of South India Jaffna Diocese upholds its decades-long legacy of championing children’s education, rights, and well-being in a secure world.

அதனைதொடர்ந்து ஆலய திறந்த வெளியரங்கில் விருந்தினர் வரவேற்பு, இறைவணக்கம், மங்கள விளக்கேற்றல், வரவேற்பு நடனம் போன்ற நிகழ்வுகள் நடைபெற்றன. நிகழ்வுகளின் வரிசையில் பிரதம விருந்தினராக கலந்து சிறப்பித்த முல்லைத்தீவு மாவட்ட சிறுவர் நன்னடத்தை பிரிவின் அதிகாரி திரு எஸ். சிவகாரன் அவர்கள் சிறுவர் உரிமைகளை நடைமுறை வாழ்வில் கடைபிடிக்க வேண்டிய அவசியத்தை பெற்றோருக்கு விளக்கி கூறினார்.
அதனை தொடர்ந்து மாங்குளம் பொலிஸ் நிலையத்தைச் சேர்ந்த திருமதி நிர்மலா ஜெயசிங்க அவர்கள் சிறுவர் மட்டத்தில் துஸ்பிரயோகங்கள் ஏற்படும் போது அவற்றை சட்டரீதியாக அனுக்கும் முறை குறித்த செய்தியினை பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார். இறுதியாக பெற்றோருக்கு பிள்ளைகள் மீதுள்ள பொறுப்புக்கூறலினை விளக்கும் வகையில் பணியாளர்களினால் நாடகம் அரங்கேற்றப்பட்டது. ஐக்கிய மதிய உணவுடன் நிகழ்வுகள் அனைத்து நிகழ்வுகளும் இனிதே நிறைவுற்றது.

In a heartwarming initiative that bridges generations, the Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India (CSI) continues its excellent work in serving and honoring the elderly. A recent visit by children from the Diocese’s New Life Center in Mankulam beautifully underscored the church’s commitment to teaching young people the values of respect and care for their elders.
The children visited the SK Old Age Home in Kilinochchi Ariviyal Nagar for a special day of fellowship. The primary goal was to provide a practical lesson in loving and respecting the elderly, a core principle of the church’s mission.
The event was filled with joy and celebration. The children began by honoring each resident with a garland, a traditional sign of respect. The visit then blossomed into a lively program of artistic performances, featuring a welcome dance, songs, poetry, and speeches by the children. In a touching reciprocal gesture, the elderly residents also participated, sharing an English song and dance of their own.
The day culminated with children and residents sharing a meal together, fostering a deep sense of community and family.
This special visit was a profound success. The children gained a firsthand understanding of the importance of honoring their elders, while the elderly residents were visibly uplifted by the energy, love, and respect shown to them.
These moments are where faith is lived out in love, service, and mutual respect across all ages.
