Bringing Hope, Faith, and Opportunity to Vulnerable Communities

The Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India (JDCSI) is committed to sharing Christ's love through holistic ministry, reaching out to marginalized and vulnerable communities across Northern Sri Lanka. Our mission combines evangelism, education, pastoral care, and community development to transform lives and strengthen families.

During May 2026, our ministry teams actively served the communities of Samathanakottai, Inpachcholai, Kalmadukulam, and Cheddikulam, providing spiritual guidance, educational support, and compassionate care for children and families.

Bro. T. Mariadas serves as an Evangelist in the villages of Samathanakoddai and Inbacholai. He is deeply committed to sharing the love of Christ among underprivileged and marginalized communities, with a special passion for children's ministry. For many years, he has faithfully conducted Sunday School programs, nurturing young minds in Christian faith and values. His dedication, compassion, and servant-hearted ministry continue to make a meaningful impact in the lives of many.

Bro.Sam Sivalingam

Bro.Sam Sivalingam

Evangelist

He has been faithfully serving in God's ministry for over 35 years across several Christian denominations. Currently, he ministers in the remote village of Kalmadukulam, where he continues to share the Gospel with dedication and perseverance. Known for his prayerful life and deep commitment to Christian service, he works tirelessly to strengthen the faith of the community and extend God's love to those in need. His faithful witness and servant leadership have been a blessing to many throughout his years of ministry.

Br.D.Nesakumar

Br.D.Nesakumar

Evangelist

Bro. Nesakumar, who previously served in Vatharavaththai. He is currently serving as an Evangelist in Cheddikulam Village and with his family to strengthen and rebuild the ministry in this area, where he faithfully proclaims the Gospel and ministers to the local community. Known for his dedication, humility, and servant-hearted spirit, he works diligently to nurture spiritual growth and strengthen the Christian witness in the area. His commitment to God's mission continues to be a blessing to those he serves.

Vision

Streamline the Mission and Evangelism of Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India through rejuvenation of the Passion and zeal for the Mission of God rooted in Jesus Christ based on Scriptures by which equipping and enhancing the capacities of local congregations towards building Christ communities and to become missional congregations and thereby,  search, research and accompanying the people, especially the most vulnerable for the radical and sustainable transformation which leads to the Nation-building and National integrity which affirms and visualize the gospel values of peace, justice and reconciliation. 

Mission Priorities
  • To capacitate local congregations through issue-based Bible studies and contextual theological reflection.
  • To nurture children and youth through Christian education, leadership development, and faith formation.
  • To promote holistic mission by integrating evangelism with social responsibility and community service.
  • To empower marginalized and vulnerable communities through education, livelihood, and pastoral care initiatives.
  • To encourage interfaith understanding and mutual respect among people of different religious and cultural traditions.
  • To remain sensitive to environmental and ecological concerns and promote responsible stewardship of God's creation.
  • To strengthen ecumenical relationships and work collaboratively with other churches and organizations for the common good.
  • To foster the social agenda of the Church through advocacy, peacebuilding, and sustainable development programmes.
  • To mobilize local resources and encourage faithful stewardship for the growth of God's mission.
  • To support and strengthen rural mission centres and evangelistic outreach among unreached communities.
  • To promote justice, reconciliation, and healing in post-conflict communities.
  • To equip clergy, evangelists, and lay leaders for effective and compassionate ministry.
  • To uphold the dignity, rights, and well-being of women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
  • To develop self-reliant and sustainable ministries through community participation and partnership.
  • To proclaim the Gospel of Christ through word and deed, bearing witness to God's love and transforming grace.

Our Ministry Centres

Samathanakottai & Inpachcholai

Under the dedicated leadership of Bro. T.Mariadas, these mission centres focus on early childhood education and spiritual formation.

  • Samathanakottai Preschool: 34 children enrolled.
  • Inpachcholai Preschool: 20 children receiving educational and spiritual support.

Through daily prayers, Bible stories, songs, and learning activities, these centres create a safe and nurturing environment where children can grow academically and spiritually.

Kalmadukulam Ministry

Led by Bro. Sam Sivalingam, the Kalmadukulam mission serves as a centre of hope and learning for local families.

Current Ministry Impact:

  • 38 children attend Evening Classes.
  • 26 children participate in Sunday School.
  • 64 children are actively engaged in the ministry.

The church campus provides educational assistance, fellowship, and spiritual guidance, helping to build a brighter future for the next generation.

Reviving Hope in Cheddikulam

Bro. D. Nesakumar has recently been appointed to serve in Cheddikulam, Mannar District, where he and his family are working to rebuild and strengthen the local ministry.

After a period of inactivity, the mission is being revived through:

  • House-to-house visitation
  • Prayer fellowships
  • Community relationship building
  • Evangelistic outreach
